The fall of 1988 was the time when Gunn was on the road for a year to study at the British American Drama Academy. She shared a home with Pamela Adlon after moving to Laurel Canyon Los Angeles. Gunn was famous for her role as Skyler White on Breaking, the AMC Breaking Breaking. In the years 2013, and 2014 she was nominated in the category of Primetime Emmy Award Outstanding Supporting Artist in a Drama Series. In August 2013 she composed an opinion piece for The New York Times examining the negative reactions of people towards her character.
