Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. Roberts is part of the fourth generation of Robertses who live in the Atlanta region, beginning by her grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. In the early years of his life his father became obsessed with theatre. When he was a college students studying at Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he participated in numerous productions. He joined the Air Force, and was stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi acted in a play together with Betty Lou Bredemus. They got married in 2005, and welcomed their first child, Eric Anthony in 1956. Walter along with his wife quit the Air Force in and enrolled Walter at Tulane University. The family relocated in 1960 to Decatur Georgia where Walter began working at Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the local Saturday morning children's TV show Bum Bum and His Buddies and their Buddies, which they both funded. Later that year they founded the Actors and Writers Workshop which operated for a period of six years. They were blessed with two additional kids Lelisa (called Lisa) Billingsley in the year 1965 as well as Julia (called Julie) in 1967.
