Tawny Kitaen
Julie Ellen "Tawny" Kitaen (August 5 1961 - May 7 2021) was an American model, actress, and media personality. Her career in acting on television started with Malibu (1983) as well as California Girls (1985). She also appeared in the comedy The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik-Yak and Bachelor Party (both 1984), and the horror film Witchboard (1986). Kitaen received a lot of attention due to her appearances in a variety of rock music videos of heavy metal, including Ratt's "Back for More" (1984) and Whitesnake's "Still of the Night", "Is This Love" and "Here I Go Again" (all 1987).In the early 2000s, Kitaen transitioned into appearing in reality-TV shows which included The Surreal Life (2006) and Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (2008) which, the latter of which documented Kitaen's struggles with addiction. Julie Kitaen was the youngest of three children. She was born in San Diego in 1961 to Linda Kitaen (nee Taylor), an actress and a former beauty pageant participant and Terry Kitaen who worked for the business of neon signs. Kitaen was born to a Russian-Jewish dad and a Scottish mother. Kitaen was born Jewish. Kitaen started using the name "Tawny" when she was twelve years old, on her own initiative. She was dyslexic in her childhood. This made her drop out from Mission Bay High School. [7] When she was fourteen, she was given backstage access to a Peter Frampton concert at Balboa Stadium.[8] She witnessed Penny Frampton receiving an extravagant treatment, and she determined to follow in her footsteps.
